Substance Abuse Treatment
Utilizing The Seven Challenges® program, we help substance dependent youth to make a commitment to change. The Seven Challenges is a counseling program for youth and young adults that struggle with substance use and abuse.
It is designed to motivate youth and young adults to evaluate their lives, consider changes they may wish to make, and then succeed in implementing the desired changes by taking power over their own lives.
The Seven Challenges
The Seven Challenges are:
- We decided to open up and talk honestly about ourselves and about alcohol and other drugs.
- We looked at what we liked about alcohol and other drugs and why we were using them.
- We looked at our use of alcohol and other drugs to see if it has caused harm or could cause harm.
- We looked at our responsibility and the responsibility of others for our problems.
- We thought about where we seemed to be headed, where we wanted to go, and what we wanted to accomplish.
- We made thoughtful decisions about our lives and about our use of alcohol and other drugs.
- We followed through on our decisions about our lives and our drug use. If we saw problems, we went back to earlier challenges and mastered them.
The Seven Challenges is implemented as the counseling component of an outpatient program and can be delivered in a variety of settings with different levels of intensity to meet the needs of the client.
