Jenna Ackerman, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, has been a dedicated member of the AxessPointe Community Health Centers team since December 2017, serving patients at the Akron/Arlington location. Before joining AxessPointe, Jenna spent nine years with Akron General, working in various primary care settings, including Portage Hills, North Hill Family Practice, and Canal Physicians Group.She earned her Master of Science in Nursing from Frontier University in 2008 and holds certification through the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).

In addition to her clinical role, Jenna is active in nursing education, teaching at Walsh University and mentoring nurse practitioner students from over seven universities. She is a member of both AANP and the Ohio Association of Advanced Practice Nurses (OAAPN). With a practice philosophy focused on wellness and collaborative care, Jenna prioritizes a partnership with her patients to promote holistic health.

Outside of work, Jenna enjoys playing soccer, gardening, hiking, and cooking with her family.

Taryn Burhanna has been a part of AxessPointe Community Health Centers since January 2019, serving as a Nurse Practitioner at both the Akron/Arlington and Kent locations. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing from Kent State University in May 2018.

In addition to her clinical work, Taryn is a faculty member at Kent State University, where she provides clinical instruction for Community Health Nursing and lectures for accelerated nursing students in various courses. She is certified by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) and is an active member of the organization.

Before becoming a nurse practitioner, Taryn worked as a registered nurse with the Cleveland Clinic, University Hospitals, and the Cleveland Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center.

Rosanna Dean-Scott, MD, is a Family Practitioner at AxessPointe’s Kent location. She earned her medical degree from Wright State University in 2000 and became part of the AxessPointe team in January 2009. In 2011, Dr. Dean-Scott completed a teaching fellowship at Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED), where she continues to serve as an Assistant Professor in Community Family Medicine.

Passionate about community outreach, she actively participates in local initiatives. In her free time, Dr. Dean-Scott enjoys spending time with her family and immersing herself in a good book.

Dr. DeJulius has been a provider at AxessPointe since 2018. With a background in various primary care settings, she also holds the position of Medical Director at the Kent City Health Department. Dr. DeJulius earned her undergraduate degree from Tulane University, her MD from the University of Cincinnati, and a Master’s in Public Health from Kent State University.

She completed her residency at Summa Health System and is board certified in family medicine. She actively participates in professional organizations, including the American Medical Association and the Ohio Public Health Association.

Residing in Geauga County, Dr. DeJulius enjoys spending time with her adult triplets and their dogs, learning ballroom dancing with her husband, and relaxing at the beach.

Dr. Rebecca Eiwen, MD, joined AxessPointe in January 2024, bringing with her an extensive background in mission hospitals spanning two decades in Nepal and Pakistan. Her commitment to providing comprehensive care to adults and children, with a special focus on women’s health, is a testament to her dedication to the well-being of her patients.

Dr. Eiwen is currently based at our Akron/Arlington location, where she welcomes patients of all ages and backgrounds. Her proficiency in Nepali makes her particularly accessible to patients from that community. She is passionate about fostering a warm and inclusive environment for everyone under her care. Dr. Eiwen’s academic journey includes an undergraduate degree from Kent State University and an MD from Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine in 1994.

She further honed her skills through a residency in family practice at St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City. Board certified in family medicine, Dr. Eiwen is an active member of the American Academy of Family Medicine and the Christian Medical and Dental Association.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Eiwen finds joy in singing and music, sharing her talents with her community. Her love for travel and hiking aligns with her adventurous spirit, and she is actively involved with her church, reflecting her commitment to both physical and spiritual well-being.

Dr. Ayesha Erfan joined Axesspointe in July 2018 as an internist. She sees adult patients at the Akron/Arlington location and has extensive experience working in different clinical settings. She has worked in out-patient and Intensive Care in Pakistan, prior to relocating to the U.S.

She completed her Internal Medicine Residency from St. Vincent Medical Center in 2006 and since then has worked in a variety of Internal Medicine settings, including traditional primary care in Medina, in a psychiatric hospital, providing medical care to acute and chronic in-patient psychiatric populations, and also in an out-patient facility in Fairlawn, providing medical care to a predominantly geriatric population. She is passionate about providing quality care to her patients.

Outside of work hours, she also likes to read, travel, and spend time with her family.

Dr. Vikil Girdhar is a family medicine physician and Director of Integrated Health at AxessPointe Community Health Centers at its HealthQuarters location and also at the Barberton location, where he has been working since 2015. Having graduated from Ross University School of Medicine in 2010, Dr. Girdhar moved to Ohio from his hometown of Long Island, New York to do his 3-year residency training in Family Medicine at Summa Barberton Hospital from 2012-2015, becoming board certified prior to completion. He then embarked on a 1-year fellowship in Integrated Care; specializing in Primary Care and Community Psychiatry through Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED).

Since then, he has been a full-time physician at AxessPointe, managing and treating a variety of patients, many of whom had minimal or no access to healthcare prior to establishing with him. He was appointed Clinical Assistant Professor of Community & Family Medicine through NEOMED in 2016 and has also been a regular contributor to the monthly Health & Fitness segment of The Barberton Herald.

Dr. Girdhar is best known for his unique approach to patient care, displaying compassion, sincerity, and a style that makes his patients feel most comfortable. He excels in not only improving your health, but also guiding you each step of the way in doing so.

In his free time, Dr. Girdhar enjoys reading, watching movies, and impulse online shopping. One of his favorite hobbies is video editing, as he is known for directing, editing, and producing homemade movies.

Danielle King, MSN, APRN, FNP-C joined AxessPointe in January of 2022 as a board-certified family nurse practitioner. She has experience in primary care and specialty care to diverse populations with concentration in the adult and geriatric populations as well as being board-certified in Behavorial Health-Psych.

Danielle earned her Master of Science in Nursing from Walsh University and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Ohio University. Before becoming a nurse practitioner, Danielle was a registered nurse for many years and prior was a combat medic with the United States Army.

Michelle Moreno, DO is a family physician at AxessPointe Community Health Centers at the Akron location. She received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, TX and medical degree from Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2008.

Dr. Moreno completed her Family Medicine residency at Summa Health System in Akron in 2011. She joined AxessPointe since 2011.

Dr. Oyerinde, MD DrPH FAAP joined the AxessPointe family in June of 2022, bringing over 10 years of pediatric experience with him. Dr. Oyerinde received his Bachelor of Medicine from Obafemi Awolowo University in 1988. Following that, he went on to receive many academic achievements, including a Master of Public Health from the University of Lagos and a Master of Science in Epidemiology from the University of Pretoria.

Dr. Oyerinde continued his medical training and completed his Residency in Pediatrics at Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center in New York. In December of 2015, he finished his education at the University of North Carolina by receiving his Doctorate in Health Policy & Management. While working towards completing his training, Dr. Oyerinde gained experience at many facilities within the medical field. He was named a Pediatric Attending at Children’s Medical Group In New York. During this time, he also taught, completed research, and formulated policies as an Assistant Clinical Professor with Columbia University.

Upon graduating, Dr. Oyerinde participated as a Pediatric Attending at CHI-St. Alexius Health in North Dakota. From there, he moved on to become a Pediatric Attending at a number of different health facilities, including Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center, Greater Philadelphia Health Inc., and Boriken Community Health Center.

During all of his Pediatric Attending positions, Dr. Oyerinde’s focus remained on providing general pediatric service to children ranging from birth to the age of eighteen.

He attended The University of Alabama at Birmingham where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology, received his MD from Wright State University School of Medicine , and completed his residency and Clinical Research Fellowship through the Summa Health System/Akron City Hospital Family Practice Residency Program and obtained a Masters in Public Health degree at the University of Pittsburgh.

Dr. Scott has over 20 years of experience serving Northeast Ohio communities through providing high-quality primary care health services and preventive health education, particularly for underserved populations.

Earlier in her career, she worked as a bedside nurse in the Medical Intensive Care Unit at a hospital in Canton for seven years. She earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing from Kent State University.

Kristie Engler-Lynaugh has been with AxessPointe Community Health Centers since 2012 and currently serves as the Dental Director. She completed a General Practice Residency at Akron City Hospital and, prior to dental school, worked in clinical cancer research with the Department of Medicine at Roswell Park Cancer Institute.

Kristie holds a BS in Biology with a minor in General Management from SUNY Buffalo, an MS in Neuroimmunology, and her DDS degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. She is passionate about guiding patients to better oral health through education and helping them achieve a smile they can be proud of.

Shilpa Kapoor, DDS has been with AxessPointe Community Health Centers since October of 2021 and is a general dentist expanding services to include dentures and crowns at our Akron/Arlington and Kent locations. Shilpa was previously the Dental Director at Community Health Center of Buffalo in New York. She received her BDS from the Baba Farid University of Health Sciences in India and her MS in Oral Biology from New York University.

Kristie holds a BS in Biology with a minor in General Management from SUNY Buffalo, an MS in Neuroimmunology, and her DDS degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. Dr. David Dawson completed his undergraduate studies at the Ohio State University from 1990 to 1993. Outside of work, David enjoys spending time with his family, staying active, and riding his motorcycle.

Prior to her work in Ohio she obtained her Bachelors degree from Mercy College and initiated her career in 2003 in New York City, where she provided individuals and families with a wide range of psychological and supportive services. She then obtained her Masters in Social Science Administration from Case Western Reserve University in 2012. In 2015, she decided to focus on mental health and began working in a private practice that supports individuals and families going through difficult times.

In 2019, she opened her own private practice, where she continues to provide individual, couples and family therapy. Through her sixteen years of service in child welfare, she has helped individuals and families cope with a variety of issues. She has extensive knowledge in developing reunification plans as well as permanency and concurrent planning. Joselyn has also worked with bilingual families and has addressed immigration issues for youth in need of permanency, while collaborating and advocating through the juvenile court system.

Joselyn then also became an Adjunct Faculty member at Case Western Reserve University’s Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences in 2022, where she educates students in the graduate level program on Social Work Policy. She is constantly working to learn new ways to be an effective social justice leader and hopes to continue making a difference by advocating and providing bilingual services to an ever growing and much needed population in our community.

Recently, Karen completed Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) training through the EMDR International Association, expanding her skill set in trauma-informed care. Karen’s extensive background includes clinical assessments, diagnosis, and a range of counseling services for individuals, couples, families, and groups. Beyond her professional work, Karen actively volunteers with the American Red Cross as a Hero for Babies Blood Donor, is involved in her church, and supports the Cleveland Cultural Gardens.

A multi-talented individual, Karen has received awards for her creative pursuits, including oil painting, sculpture, cake decorating, and even her canned pickles. She is also a certified scuba diver through both NAUI and PADI.
