Root House

Portage County

Root House serves as a safe place, founded by Valerie and Mike Root in loving memory of their son, Damian. Damian’s legacy lives on through the compassionate work undertaken at Root House, where individuals find support, and a pathway to healing.

24/7 Care in a Safe, Supportive Environment

Root House is a Non-Medical Community Residential program, providing 24/7 treatment and care in a safe, nurturing environment. Whether you are seeking refuge from addiction, managing co-occurring disorders, or looking for a supportive community, Root House is here to help. Together, we walk the path toward healing, honoring Damian’s memory every step of the way.

Personalized Support for Lasting Change

Each client begins with a comprehensive diagnostic assessment that evaluates substance use, mental health, trauma, social history, and other relevant factors. Based on this assessment, a personalized treatment plan is developed collaboratively to address the client’s needs and goals. Interventions include individual, group, family, and couples counseling, case management, peer support, structured support meetings, and medication-assisted treatment. Our goal is to deliver individualized, evidence-based care in a safe and supportive environment, helping clients build the skills and resilience necessary for lasting recovery.

Who We Serve

Admission

Adult males with a primary moderate to severe substance use disorder whose substance use interferes with occupational, interpersonal, or social functioning, and who are motivated and able to participate in treatment.

Continued Stay

Clients remain in the program if they are at high risk of relapse, not ready for a lower level of care, and making progress toward treatment goals.

Discharge

Clients are discharged once treatment goals are achieved, functioning has stabilized, and a relapse prevention and personal recovery plan is in place.
